THE Moorman family have been involved with Burley Cricket Club for more than 50 years and to mark the occasion a special match was organised last Sunday between a team captained by Charlie Moorman XI and a Burley XI, pictured above.
It is not only treasurer Charlie Moorman who has been a club stalwart since 1966, but his three sons also play every weekend.
The oldest, Steve, is the club’s secretary and has been playing since 1994. Groundsman Michael looks after the well prepared square and started in 1996, while first-team captain Alec, who is the club’s league first-team captain, made his debut in 2002, equating to.
This means that together the Moorman family have given 106 years' service by the family.
Burley won the match by two wickets with two balls spare.
