THREE new faces bidding to win contracts at Salisbury FC joined the camp for the club's first day back to work.

Joe Noakes and former Bemerton Heath Harlequins' Seb Dawes and Joe Sanger, who have all registered with the Whites, hope to impress boss Steve Claridge over the coming weeks in pre-season.

They and the rest of the squad were put through their paces at Hudson's Field and the Ray Mac on Saturday morning.

Newbies Justin Bennett, Lewis Benson and Josh Warren were in attendance alongside regulars Sam Roberts, Claudio Herbert, Brandon Mundy, George Colson and Elliot Wheeler.

Absentees included skipper Kane O'Keefe (ankle) and Calum Brockway (dislocated shoulder), both of whom are still recovering from injuries.

"It was a good work out," said Claridge.

"We've definitely got a good nucleus here but I've still got places to fill so will be working hard over the next month before the Southern League season starts to get the right players in."

"I was impressed with the three new lads who have been registered. They're fit and willing and showing a great attitude in wanting to try out."

Whites kick-start their pre-season campaign on Saturday with the visit of Darrell Clarke's Bristol Rovers (1pm).

Clarke, who led Salisbury City to double promotions in a three-year spell, is returning to the Ray Mac with his Rovers for the second consecutive season.

Last year's friendly saw Rovers beat Whites 4-1, watched by 1,068 people.

Ticket prices cost £9 adults, £6 concessions (students and senior citizens).
