SEVENTEEN girls from Godolphin School completed a tagteam Ironman Triathlon in preparation for a lacrosse tour to America.

The students completed a 2.4 mile swim in the on-site pool, 112 mile cycle ride on a stationary bike and a marathon.

The swim took the girls one hour and 18 minutes to finish, the cycle ride was six hours and 52 minutes and the 26 mile run in three hours and six minutes.

In total, the students, who are off to USA this month, raised £747.50 for Mission Motorsport - a charity run by veterans, serving officers and motorsport professionals that aids the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations through motorsport.

The pupils learnt more about the charity when Steph Evans, the employment relationship manager, visited the school last month with her dog Kikay.

She spoke of her 15-year career in military, which included a role as a bomb disposal officer.
