THERE was a full programme of basketball for Salisbury Sparks on Saturday.
It was a tough afternoon for the B side who slumped to back-to-back defeats.
The first arrived at the hands of Weymouth Tropics, where they were beaten 54-23 in what was their first defeat of the season.
A tight start to the game saw a young Salisbury B trail10-9 after eight minutes.
However, the Tropics stepped it up going on a 19-0 run through to the start of the third quarter to seize control of the game.
The second defeat arrived at against New Forest Vipers in the form of 51-44.
Salisbury Sparks A also tasted defeat, losing 55-49 to Tres Barriles Predators.
But there was better news in their clash with Basingstoke Blizzards, which they won 45-38.
Elsewhere, the under 14s' girls played their first match, and they did it with some style.
Head coach, Lee Duckett, attended The Journal Sports Awards on Friday night as a finalist for Coach of the Year.
Despite Duckett finishing runner-up, he said "I had a great evening and that the exposure for Basketball in Salisbury was fantastic".
