THE Mayor and Charter Trustees for the City of New Sarum will be holding a Civic Reception at 7pm on Monday, July 23 in The Banqueting Hall at Salisbury Guildhall.

During this reception the Mayor, Councillor Kevin Cardy and his Mayoress Mrs Jan Cardy will be congratulating Salisbury City Football Club on their 60th anniversary and their success in gaining back-to-back promotions taking them to the Blue Square Premier as well as on their work carried out at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium to improve and expand the facility.

The Mayor, who will be presenting the club with a large engraved glass trophy, said:"I am delighted to be able to present club with a memento to celebrate their 60th anniversary and their most impressive achievements, particularly over these last two seasons.

"To earn promotion two seasons in succession and to be playing in what is the fifth division of the Football League next season; the Blue Square Premier, is a remarkable achievement in which we all in the City of Salisbury are most proud.

"You all have really contributed to enhancing the reputation of the City of Salisbury and all that it represents."

The Chairman of Salisbury City Council Councillor Mrs Bobbie Chettleburgh will also be in attendance and will be presenting each member of the successful team with a memento.

She added: "This is a proud moment for the city and the district as a whole.

"We would all like to wish you and everyone within the club every continuing success for the future and for really putting Salisbury on the map."

Also in attendance will be the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, the Honourable Peter Playdell-Bouverie and other dignitaries.
