IT was heartbreak for Bishop Wordsworth's Under 18s who suffered an agonising 27-5 defeat to Warwick School in the NatWest Schools Cup final at Twickenham.
The grammar students gave a gutsy showing in front of their school, but came undone against a well-drilled and organised opposition.
A rampant start from Warwick saw them open up a 12-0 lead inside the opening 13 minutes through a try and a penalty try, the latter being converted.
Moments later, Warwick went over the whitewash again, which was converted for a 19-0 lead.
The pressure continued and a penalty kick saw them 22-0 ahead with 25 minutes played.
But Bishop's fought back and a move, started by England Under 18s star Cadan Murley, saw Chris Nichols squeeze over the line, but the conversion was missed.
The first half ended 22-5 to Warwick.
After the break, Bishop's came roaring out of the blocks and tried to break Warwick's resolute defence on numerous occasions.
But against the run of play 18 minutes into the second half, Warwick carved open the Bishop's defence to score, with the extras added.
At 27-5, it was a long way back for the Salisbury school.
They managed to score with ten minutes remaining, which was disallowed, before Callum MacTaggart went on a mazy run down the right wing but was bundled out of play into touch.
