WINTERBOURNE Cricket Club organized a one day cup game between M2 XI (collective players team of Salisbury) and Naya Yuva CC an all Nepalese team of players from Hampshire & Berkshire, on Saturday, July 9.

M2 XI captain Manny Gurung of Winterbourne CC won the toss and elected to bat first in the 45 overs.

Opening batsman Ganesh and Matt Windows both of Winterbourne gave a good start and took the score to 45 in 7 overs but Matt Windows edged to a wide ball and was caught at point on 20.

William Harries of Shrewton smashed the ball around and scored 140 runs with Ganesh scoring 40 and the batsman from Dinton, Amesbury all contributed and M2 XI put on a huge target of 319 /9 for Nepalese team.

Nawa Yuva CC got stuck from the start when captain Manny struck with one lbw and cleaned bowled another to their opening batsman Prabin and their captain Baz and the rest all collapsed in just 125 runs and M2 XI grab the cup beating Naya Yuva CC by 194 runs.

The pick of the bowlers were Manny three wickets, Hattersley of Porton and Hannaford of Dinton two wickets.

The best batsman and man of the match was won by William Harried, best bowler by Manny Gurung, best fielder by Phurba Gurung.

Organisers of the match said: “It was a great game to keep the bond alive between the Nepal and England players.”
