VICTORIA Park Community Tennis club, received a partnership fund from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to give a tennis experience to South Wilts Grammar School girls in years seven and eight.
The project is called GoGirls Tennis and the aim is to give all girls in year seven and eight a taster session in tennis in curriculum time.
Following on from the success of the taster sessions, 99 girls signed up to a free GoGirls tennis course over a six week period, which aims to teach all basic tennis strokes, scoring and allowing them to enjoy a game of tennis.
They were also given a one year free junior membership to Victoria Park Community Tennis allowing them to continue to play after the course.
Due to the popularity of the course a free GoGirls evening was set up giving an opportunity for girls to mix socially and play tennis.
