LAVERSTOCK and Ford continued their unbeaten form in 2018 with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over visiting Verwood.

Having picked up two huge away wins before this fixture Laverstock knew Verwood would be another tough test, especially as they had lost their visitors twice earlier in the season.

With that in mind the home side immediately got themselves onto the front foot.

Russ Jones looked in menacing form and should have put his side ahead early on but put his effort wide of the target.

Chae Sykes led the line with great effect once again was the man who opened the scoring.

His perfectly timed run and header cannoned in off the upright courtesy of Tom Mundy's corner on 30 minutes.

Despite plenty of attacking football, only the one goal separated the sides at the break.

Early in the second half, Lavvy took control of the game. Jones again tricked his way into the box and this time was wiped out leaving Adam Bourner to coolly slot home another penalty, his third in three games.

The home side then added a third on 70 minutes as Archie Lovegrove chased what seemed a lost cause. only to pull his cross back for Jones to score a deserved goal.

Two minutes later, Jones ghosted through to slot home his second and moments later, Lovegrove got in on the act as he completed the 5-0 victory.

The Laverstock bosses Rob Lakeman and Liam McConnell were quick to give praise following the rout and said: "In recent weeks our defending has won us games and with a consecutive clean sheet for the first time this season it gave us a platform.

"The front four and Archie (Lovegrove) when he was introduced were all fantastic. It was great to see us play with freedom and the confidence is growing. It's another game chalked off, our full focus now is next Saturday. Nothing else."

Next up for the promotion chasers is a trip to New Milton Town this weekend.
