SALISBURY have added another new face to their line-up with the signing of experienced midfielder Darren Mullings

The 31-year-old Bristol-born player arrives at the Ray Mac from National League South side Chippenham Town.

Last season he played 20 times for the Hardenhuish Park and has previous spells at the same level, which is the tier above where the Whites will play next season for Gloucester City. Oxford City and Weston-super-Mare.

Salisbury manager Steve Claridge is pleased with his latest addition and feels he is naturally replacement for Tom Whelan, who has left the club to return to roots in Liverpool.

Claridge said: “With the departure of Tom Whelan and I wish him well. It was important to sign a central midfielder who bring some physicality and has a lot of experience. I think Darren will do a good job for us and with the slight increase in our budget we are able to attract players from the league above.”

Mullings will not be the last new face for the Whites ahead of their forthcoming campaign in the Southern League Premier Division South.

Salisbury have added another friendly match to their pre-season schedule, with a game at last season’s local rivals from Hampshire Winchester City on Tuesday July 17 (7.45 pm).

Claridge said: “I am happy with the squad so far and I will also being looking to add three or four of the 20 and 21 year-olds which I like, so the idea is for every player to play three of four games of pre-season.”

Salisbury’s league fixtures will be released on Thursday July 19 and the season starts on Saturday August 11.
