BEMERTON Heath Harlequins and Amesbury both start their quest for FA Cup glory this Saturday against teams from the Isle of Wight.

Bemerton entertain Wessex League Premier rivals Cowes Sports, while Amesbury are on their travels to the island to take on fellow Division One side Newport.

Amesbury opened their league campaign last Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Ringwood.

The visitors started well in the game and dominated the first 20 minutes and should have taken the lead.

However, the home side hit the back and scored from Lee Vint.

At this point, Ringwood had a good spell, but right on the stroke of half-time Amesbury levelled things thanks to a good finish from Robbie Owen.

After the break, the visitors had chances to win the game, but the home side so nearly stole all three points right at the end, with a header from close range.

After the game, new manager Dave Coker said: "We played extremely well considering the unusual heat and hard surface. I was disappointed with the result as I feel this was two points dropped."

Looking ahead to Saturday's FA Cup tie Coker added: "I do think it’s a little unknown territory at this stage of the season.

I believe if we play the way we can then we should come away with a win."

Meanwhile, Bemerton have not had the start they were looking for in the Premier Division as on Tuesday night they lost 3-0 at Tadley, with all the goals coming after the break.

Last Saturday, they were beaten at home by one of the title favourites Sholing 4-0.
