AMESBURY Ladies enjoyed a 44-19 victory in their first ever league game in the NC South 2 away to Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland.
The home side could only field 12, and so Amesbury matched numbers.
The opening score went to Dorwey, with a try up the wing, exposing some poor defence from Amesbury.
After that though, Amesbury ladies woke up and scrum half Nikki Kirkham scored a hard fought try.
This was followed by No 8 Kate Stradling breaking away from past the half way line and scoring under the posts, Amy Batfinx Tilbury converting. Amy Batfinx Tilbury went onto score two further tries in the game, eventually claiming backs player of the match for an outstanding performance.
In the second half the heat and ground started to take its toll on the home side, who picked up some injuries and a yellow card to the home side captain for a dangerous high tackle on Amesbury centre Amy Reynolds.
Amesbury then stepped up the intensity with scores from Elaine O’Dowd (10) Gemma Holton (Lock) and further tries from Kate Stradling (8) and Amy Batfinx Tilbury (15) Back of the match was Amy Tilbury, Forward of the match Gemma Snell, whose with rate and leadership as pack leader was outstanding.
Their next game is at home to Swanage and Wareham on Sunday (3pm).
