ELLINGHAM and Ringwood continued their unbeaten start to the season with their third successive win in Hampshire One, but they had to work hard to earn it away at Locksheath Pumas.

The home side opened the scoring when they capitalised on an Ellingham mistake to score a converted try under the posts and they added a penalty to take a 10-0 lead.

Ellingham fought back with a pushover try from a scrum from number 8 Stuart Pearce and two penalty goals from centre Dean Young to take a narrow 11-10 lead into the break.

Locksheath regained the advantage when they kicked another penalty goal, but late in the game the Ellingham wing three quarter Will Jenkins scored the vital winning try after chasing up a kick from his captain and fly half Henry Benson.

Ellingham and Ringwood’s 2nd XV continued their good start to the season with a 17-0 victory over Fordingbridge's 2nd XV in a hastily arranged friendly.

Ellingham’s lock forward Tim Linford opened the scoring after about 25 minutes with a good try that was converted by veteran fly half Steve Rowntree.

Centre Darren Kendall then scored a breakaway try early in the second half before his centre partner Oli Harvey scored a great individual try with minutes to go.
