LAST Saturday was not a day for the faint hearted as the rain came down and the wind blew hard for the entire match, as Salisbury took on visiting Oxford Harlequins
Players and spectators alike did not seem to be enjoying themselves very much as the conditions turned this into a very scrappy game. Credit to Oxford Harlequins who handled the conditions much better and left with a bonus point victory thanks to winning 29-8.
However, the hosts had a torrid time and were never able to turn possession into points.
Skipper Josh Green scored the only try for the city side and Dan Luedicke added a penalty, but that was all the frozen masses had to cheers.
This was the first game of the second half of the season and Salisbury desperately need to get injured players fit again over the break in order to kick start their challenge, which now would appear to be avoiding the relegation places in the South West One East.
The result left them 11th in the table with 27 points and the three teams below them are Witney with 21 points, Swindon 13 and Straford-upon-Avon with nine.
Salisbury's next game is on Saturday, January 5 away at Royal Wootton Basset.
