SOUTH WILTS cruised into the next round of the ECB National Club Championship after beating visitors Totton and Eling by eight wickets, writes ROY HONEYBONE.

The visitors opted to bat first and soon regretted the decision as Steve Warner 4-25 and a stunning direct hit run out soon had them in trouble.

There were further wickets from Will Harries(3-4) from his five overs and a wicket each for Matty Burton and Steve Booth, as Totton were all out for 66

It only took South Wilts 14.4 overs to complete the victory with a commanding 44 not out from Peter Rowe.

The previous day, South Wilts won at St Cross in a friendly.

The visitors were reduced to 38-3, as the home side's new overseas player Marvin ‘the Ocean Express’ Williams from Cape Town id the damage.

South Wilts hit back as the tail wagged with Ryan Murray (21) followed by an unbeaten last man stand between Ben Fisher 22 and Burton 18 as they finished on 167-9 from 40 overs.

In reply, St Cross were bowled out for 127 thanks to Fisher (3-18), Harries (3-44) and two each for Rowe and Burton.
