KATIE Ovenden enjoy a triple success in the South West Badminton Championships as teenager finished off her season in style.
She won the under-14 singles, beating Ruby Trowbridge (Dorset) 21-7 and in the under-16 event overcame number one seed Grace Lee (Devon), 21-18. Her third success came in the under-14 doubles as along with Chinmayi Kirani they beat Trowbridge and Rhianna Edwards 21-13.
Ovenden has been playing since she was five-years-old at the Salisbury Badminton club under Head Coach, Simon Woodhouse. She is currently sponsored by a wonderful Wiltshire Charity, Doing it for Dan and is on the Wiltshire Councils Funding Future Olympians Scholarship Scheme.
Ovenden is now taking a break from tournaments until August, to re-energise but will be training.
They are hoping their her next tournament will be the U17 Gold in Gloucestershire on August 3.
This will be a tough tournament as the top players, including internationals will be playing.
