AMESBURY rider Mark Piper suffered a last lap crash in awful conditions in the latest round of the Superstock 600 Championship at Brands Hatch, writes CRAIG HOBBS.

Qualifying proved tough for the rider on his Yamaha R6 as clutch issues saw him earn 25th place on the grid.

The weekend race on a wet track started well for Piper as he gained some positions as riders crashed out due to the wet conditions.

Up to 14th place in a great race, Piper’s visor starting to fog up with the damp conditions meaning he was struggling to see and on the last lap unfortunately was a victim of a multiple crash along with 11 other riders.

Piper said: “It was a tough race but we go on to Knockhill this weekend still positive.”
