SALISBURY’s Gearlink rider Ben Wilson just missed out on the a podium spot in the latest round of the Dickies British Supersport at Brands Hatch.

Wilson had a good weekend and was continuously improving his times in qualifying and put his bike seventh on the grid.

The sprint race on the Saturday was red flagged after a sudden downpour, so became an eight-lap wet race.

Wilson got a fantastic start and was away with the leaders and in the end just missed out on the podium as he came fourth.

The following day’s feature race saw Wilson eighth on the grid and over the 18-lap distance he was unable to push up at the front and had to settle for a solid sixth after making a stunning pass on the final corner to gain two more places.

Fellow Gearlink rider Ross Twyman had a small crash during qualifying which lost him a lot of precious time on track and he ended up starting the opening race from 16th place.

He rode a strong spirit race finishing 10th and followed this up with a 12th place finish in the feature race.

Wilson said: “The Saturday race was good and it was great to be up at the sharp end again fighting for podiums.

“However on Sunday I took a gamble on a decision with the bike and unfortunately it wasn’t the right one, so my apologies to the team.

“I will take the positives from Saturday to Knockhill.”

The team are in action at the Scottish track this weekend, in the next rounds of the championship. ready to go again.”
