SOUTH Wilts Grammar School inter girls athletics team finished fifth in the national final of the English Schools Athletics Association field cup in Chelmsford.

The team was made up of 12 athletes and one reserve and each athlete competed in two events which were one track and one field event; one track and the relay or one field event and the relay.

Competitions are scored on a points basis where better performances gain more points.

This team had competed in two previous rounds to make it to the national finals and on the day managed to improve their points haul and achieved a total of 429 points, which gave them fifth spot.

Georgia Clarke threw an impressive 10.82m in shot which made her the highest point scorer, achieving 32 points for this one performance.

Bea Wood scored 30 points in her 1,500m running a time of 4m 33.4s, Amelia Lewis threw 30.93m in javelin for 28 points and Jolie Littlejohns threw 36.73m in hammer, earning 26 points and setting a championship best performance.

Amelia Lewis and Amelia Watling were our two biggest point scorers, scoring 50 points each across their two events.

The South Wilts Grammar School PE department are so proud of the teams attitude and individual performances.
