AMESBURY rider Mark Piper is looking to take away the positives from his last meeting at Snetterton as he heads to home track Thruxton this weekend, writes CRAIG HOBBS.

The Norfolk trip proved a good one in the British Superstock Championship.

On board his Yamaha R6 qualifying on the Saturday saw Piper set his personal best lap time of 1.57.2. With a new main sponsor onboard, Hong’s Precision Industries and a string of new PPR Hundred Club members, Piper and the team were keen to impress.

Where the last rounds had offered tricky conditions and fogging visors, these issues were behind them and Piper lined the grid ready.

Lights out and a bad start saw the 24-year-old slip back but determined to get some points he fought on battling his way back through a tough pack.

After some great racing and with Marks skill showing through, he crossed the line in 17th position and also set another personal best lap time of 1.57.1.

Piper said: “We had a strong weekend; we got the bike set up really well. This has been a positive step after a challenging couple of rounds but we move on stronger and ready for our home round at Thruxton.”

Piper and the team want to send on their thoughts and wishes to fellow rider and championship contender Aaron Clifford, the Ireland based rider who had an unfortunate crash who is recovering in hospital.
