BEMERTON Heath Harlequins started the first ever season in the Wessex League Division One with a great 8-1 win over visiting New Milton Town, writes DAVID HEATHER.

The new look side with eight new faces were three goals up inside 20 minutes courtesy of evergreen Justin Bennett and two from Eddie Perrett, his second a stunning 20-yard effort that flew into the corner.

New Milton to their credit continued to try and play and pulled one back from Curtis with a good shot from outside the box

Harlequins undeterred added two more before half time Bennett again and skipper Kane O Keefe finding the net.

The second half was a replica of the first Bennett with a brace completed his hat-trick and Danny Finnegan with two completed the scoring.

Several chances went begging but manager Ian Saunders was more than happy with the start.

The only worrying thing for him was a slight injury to summer signing from Salisbury O Keefe which led to him coming off.

Bemerton are at home again on Tuesday night (August 6) when Hythe and Dibden are the visitors.
