SALISBURY athlete Lucy-Jane Matthews rounded off her successful season of athletics in style this weekend, having been selected for the England Team for the Youth Nations Cup she travelled to Dublin to compete last Saturday.

She won her 100m hurdles race convincingly, by over half a second, in 13.47 seconds taking the gold medal.

She then stepped up to run the third leg of the 4x400m relay, a distance she had never run before, and after taking the baton in last place she ran a storming leg contributing to her team finishing second in the race.

Matthews was part of the England Team who won the overall points based competition on the day.

It was a great way to finish an incredible season which has seen her win regional and national titles at under-17 and under-20 level.
