FARLEY'S first team kicked their heels after the game at Breamore fell foul of the weather, the second team took full advantage of a weakened Shrewton thirds to claim a 24 point win, writes PAUL ROBERTS.

Shrewton made a steady start in the face of some accurate bowling from John Amos in particular. Jake Hand picked up a couple of wickets but Jack Wood showed some resistance for the visitors.

Though given several lives by Farley fielders, Wood found the boundary repeatedly and made over two-thirds of his side's runs.

After a heavy shower interrupted play with just four overs of the innings left, Wood carved a few more to the fence before Phil Winslow finished things off. Shrewton ended 129 all out.

The young Shrewton attack struggled for control in the heavy wind and Mark Fower took full advantage, pulling anything short and unleashing some crisp drives.

There were a couple of early wobbles as home skipper Craig Burrows was dismissed, followed by Ian Swain, to leave Farley 52-2.

But in company with Geoff Ramsey, Fower accelerated against the change bowlers.

He ended unbeaten on 81 as Farley won by 8 wickets to move back into the promotion slots with three games to play.
