ELLINGHAM and Ringwood under-18s girl's scrum half Alicia Maude has been selected to represent England under 18s in the Home Nations 7s tournament in Swansea this weekend and the subsequent European 7s championship in Poland at the end of this month, writes STEVE BENSON.

Maude, who has just turned 17, has been playing at Ellingham and Ringwood since she was six and has represented both Hampshire and South East England at junior age groups.

The teenager is studying at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, was part of the Hartpury team that won the National Schools 7s championship and she went on to represent the college in the World Youth 7s tournament in Japan.

Maude is currently training with the Gloucester Hartpury women's senior squad with the aim of breaking into the Tyrrels Premiership side.

If she achieves this she will follow in the footsteps of former Ellingham and Ringwood players Poppy and Bryony Cleall, who are playing in the Premiership for Saracens and are full England internationals.
