AMESBURY Town manager Stuart Lindsay felt his side's performance at Bournemouth Poppies deserved something.

Unfortunately, the Blues were beaten 1-0 as Karol Rog scored their winner.

The winner came after 38 minutes after the visitors had a number of chances.

Looking back on the game Lindsay said: "It was a much better performance but disappointing to come away with nothing to show for it.

"We were much the better side in the first half and created five good chances which we could not convert and ultimately, if you do not take your chances when on top during games, it’s always going to be difficult.

He added: "Unfortunately we switched off for 30 seconds by trying to play in a tight area, lost possession and they punished us with a very good finish.

"Second half was more even, we had a couple of opportunities from distance but they also threatened on the counter attack, Jordan Tewkesbury making a tremendous save and Jamie Ritchie with a last ditch block keeping us in it.

"We see it as points dropped but it’s still early in the season & the lads are still adapting to life in a higher league, but we have to start being more ruthless in front of goal.

"We look forward to working hard on the training ground again this week before another difficult fixture at Bonnymead Park against visiting Bashley on Saturday."
