LAVERSTOCK and Ford had a very eventful trip to Andover Town in the Wessex League Division One last Saturday in the end.

The game which had been played in a good spirit suddenly boiled over right at the end as the visitors looked for an equaliser from a corner.

A bit of pushing in the box suddenly escalated as punches were thrown and after it had calmed down, three Laverstock players Pete Fletcher, Tom Roberts and Chae Sykes were shown red cards as were Andover’s Dave Tasker and Gary Thorne.

All three players were now been suspended for three games and manager Liam McConnell said: “The incident came out of nothing and I have spoken to all three players and I think Chae was unlucky as he tried to pull a player away, but we now have to drawn a line under this and move on.

“Their places will be taken by some of young players coming through the club, so it gives them a chance to make a claim for place in the team.”

Andover won the match 1-0 in a game of few chances with Seb Dawes coming closest right at the death as his shot was touched onto the crossbar.

This Saturday, Laverstock are on their travels to the Isle of Wight to face Newport and on Tuesday night are at home to Whitchurch United.
