SALISBURY Tri Club won the Triathlon England South West Club of the Year at the University of Bath and will now represent the region at England’s national awards on Saturday, writes JEN WITT.

Triathlon England’s South West region has 81 affiliated clubs and more than 2,100 members.

This award is given to clubs for encouraging participation, inclusivity and promoting the sport of triathlon in the community. A significant part of this recognition is down to their ‘Intro to Tri’ course run every year in May, aimed at encouraging adults to try out swimming, cycling and running, with the emphasis being as much on social participation as physical exercise.

In the last year, the club has also attained British Triathlon’s Trimark Bronze award. Trimark is a club accreditation scheme developed with Sport England to recognise clubs as safe, rewarding and fulfilling places for participants of all genders and ages, who want to be involved in the sport of triathlon.
