LAVERSTOCK and Ford chalked up their fourth straight win as beat visiting Verwood 2-1.

The first half came and went with little quality on offer perhaps due to the heaviness of the pitch after recent downpours.

However, the home side had the best chance to take the lead, Tommy Campbell Smith was fouled en route to goal and the resulting spot kick from skipper Adam Bourner was brilliantly tipped onto the post by Hinds.

The second half offered more of a tempo from the home side, Jake Rawkins forcing a fine save again by Hinds early on to show the intent.

Chae Sykes was introduced and he immediately had a chance but saw his effort go wide.

Then on 65 minutes, the opening goal came, but against the run of play as it went to the visitors. Oliver Davies got down the left flank and his crossed was put into his own net by Jim Ward.

The goal seemed to spark Lavvy and an onslaught on the Verwood goal began, Archie Lovegrove was introduced and immediately caused problems and when Russ Jones was found in space inside the box he fired home the equaliser on 75 minutes.

Laverstock continued to press forward but Hinds was equal to everything thrown at him.

With time ticking towards 90 minutes, Lovegrove found space to whip a ball to the back post where on rushing Jones was there to head home the winner much to the delight of the home support.

After the match manager, Liam McConnell said: "That was a different kind of victory today. We've had success in a couple of derby games of late but these are the kinds of games that you can easily slip up in.

"The pitch, conditions were going to play a part and of course they were a resilient stubborn side. We had to dig really deep today to come from behind but this team have some tremendous character.

He added: "To put that much pressure on a side in the final 20 mins the way we did, it would have been unjust if we didn't win that game. It's another three points picked up, there is a great feeling around the place at the moment but we know each week is a new challenge and so we focus solely on this coming week away to Alton."
