Over 300 young rugby players, aged six to 12, boys and girls, came to Hudson`s Field last Sunday for Salisbury RFC`s tri angular tournament.

Hosts Salibsury took on teams from New Milton and Oakmeadians RFC`s.

Playing a round robin series of matches, under the watchful eyes of the coaches, the teams enthusiasm for the game shone through. Sportsmanship, teamwork and enjoyment were the key factors, with no winners or losers.

Hot dogs and soft drinks for all at the end, with a home made cake stall, raising funds for the Salisbury youngsters Easter rugby trip to Bognor Regis.

SALISBURY RFC's thirds the A XV travelled down to Poole with a number having to play out of position.

The start was promising with the set piece working well and Salisbury disrupting their opponents lineout.

However, Poole’s big runners were making serious dents allowing them to exploit their pace advantage in the wide channels to take a lead of 24 points.

Salisbury's third string hit back as skipper Baz Ramsay deservedly finished a series of thrusts with Matt Chilvers converting.

Despite creating a number of chances in the second half, Salisbury were unable to stop Poole scoring regularly and in the end the Dorset side finishing the game winning 48-7.

Salisbury first XV has no game last week and they return to South West One East action this Saturday, when they entertain Windsor.

The visitors are three places above Salisbury in the table.
