SALISBURY City, fresh from their mid-season break in Spain, head north this weekend hoping to get their Blue Square Premier campaign back on track, writes Mike Turner.

Whites head to Kit Kat Crescent, home of former Football League outfit York City, looking to reverse their poor current form, which has seen them fail to win a league match since mid-September.

Nick Holmes' side have picked up just two points in the seven games played since they beat basement boys Northwich Victoria on September 22.

"It's been disappointing," said Holmes, who was forced to miss the Spanish sojourn due to family commitments.

"But it's up to us to bounce back."

Whites won their friendly against Valencia-based Sporting Club de Ribarroja 4-1 courtesy of goals by Darrell Clarke (2), Andy Sandell and Marvin Brown.

"Hopefully it will have done our lads good to get some sun on their backs."

Salisbury, who have slipped to 14th in the table, have not had a fully competitive fixture in two weeks and their four-day team-bonding break in the Spanish sun will have helped re-focus their thoughts ahead of what could prove a tough winter spell if they don't soon return to winning ways.

The enforced break has, however, helped a couple of players in their battle to overcome niggling injuries and Holmes is optimistic he will have almost a full squad to choose from ahead of the trip north.

Ironically, City return to Yorkshire next weekend when they visit Halifax Town. But plans to run supporters' coaches to both games have been scrapped due to insufficient numbers of seats being booked.

Salisbury's next home game will now be on Sunday, December 2 after their eagerly-awaited encounter with leaders Aldershot Town was moved from its 3pm Saturday afternoon slot to accommodate the Setanta TV cameras.

The game will be screened live from Old Sarum, kicking off at 7.15pm.

Supporters not travelling to York on Saturday can catch City's reserves in cup action at the Ray Mac. The Suburban League southern section leaders host Beaconsfield SYCOB in a League Challenge Cup tie (3pm).
