RIVERSIDE Tennis Club is gearing up for the return of tennis, as lockdown restrictions begin to be eased. The club, on Coldharbour Lane, will reopen its doors on Monday, March 29, after months of restrictions. Players are looking forward to getting back on court and Riverside will be welcoming existing members and new ones of all standards.

The club has formulated some exciting events, in line with the lockdown timetable, to suit everyone.

There will be a singles box league for adults and juniors, regular organised club play sessions during daytime and evenings, as well the annual club tournament. In addition the club is entering all its usual teams in the Sarum, Apsley and Hampshire and Isle of Wight leagues, as well as the Wiltshire NCL Men’s and Junior’s matches.

When restrictions are fully lifted, the club will have an official opening of two new courts plus an innovative tournament to coincide with their annual pre-Wimbledon drinks party in June; host a Big British Tennis Weekend in July; and hold a weekend Festival including the club tournament finals day in September.

There are some great courses planned by the club’s team of experienced coaches as well as individual lessons.

There is always plenty going on at Riverside and with the two new courts there are now five hard courts and three artificial grass courts to offer plenty of availability.

There is a lively social side of the club as well and the social committee has some exciting plans for the summer which they will roll out as the season progresses.
