BEMERTON Heath Harlequins continued their Wessex Division One title charge with a thumping win over Millbrook.

Justin Bennett’s hat-trick made up the bulk of Harlequins’ eight goals against the Southampton-based side, with George Bishop opening scores after just six minutes.

A two-minute salvo from Ronan Clancy gave the league leaders a 3-0 lead after just 23 minutes, before Bennett added his first two goals prior to the half-hour mark.

Just two minutes into the second half Bennett was given the chance to complete his hat-trick from the spot, with the former Gosport and Salisbury striker converting.

The goals dried up until two minutes from time, when Jake Burgess and Cameron Roach got in on the act.

A derby between Downtown and Laverstock & Ford on Friday drew a season high attendance of 401, with the crowd rewarded with a pulsating 2-2 draw.

Downton went into the break 2-1 up after goals from Sam Howe and Marcel Laptas, with Lavvy grabbing their goal through Chae Sykes.

Sykes got the equaliser in the second half, meaning Laverstock & Ford remain a place above their rivals Downton, who sit eighth.
