BEMERTON Heath continued their title charge with a convincing win over Petersfield Town at the weekend.

The Wessex Division One leaders put three past Petersfield in the second half, with a quick-fire double from Cameron Roach and Dan Young shortly after the restart sending Bemmy on their way.

Jake Burgess finished the scoring on 72 minutes, stretching his side’s lead at the top of the table to five points.

Directly above Bemerton in the non-league pyramid is Amesbury Town, who are currently routed to the bottom of the Wessex Premier table.

Whilst Amesbury could not prevent a 25th league loss of the season, eventually losing 3-1 to promotion chasing Baffins Milton Rovers, they did manage to score in consecutive games for the first time since the start of November, thanks to Josh Moore’s consolation goal.

A Shaun Prentice double and additional Sam Howe strike handed Downton a 3-0 win over Whitchurch United, ensuring the Robins remain eighth in the league table. Laverstock & Ford’s away trip to Infinity was postponed due to the fact that Southampton-based Infinity have withdrawn from the Wessex League due to ground issues.

Despite not being in action, Laverstock remain above their local rivals Downton in seventh place.
