SALISBURY'S awful run of form continued as they suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Beaconsfield Town, writes Andy Munns.

The side from Buckinghamshire sit a few places above the Whites in the table and had enough to make sure they took all three points home with a 2-1 win.

Salisbury made a sluggish start and Beaconsfield almost and probably should have taken the lead inside the first 10 minutes. A ball in from the right found Nathan Minhas but he was only able to blaze over the bar when he should have done better.

Salisbury were not creating a huge amount but should have taken the lead at the midway point of the half. Calvin Brooks first hit the bar with a header from a corner, Abdulai Baggie put the rebounding ball back into the danger area setting up a second Brooks header but he also powered his second opportunity against the bar.

Despite both sides creating chances as the half went on, they went in level at half-time scoreless.

Like the first half, it was Beaconsfield who were out of the blocks fastest and they took the lead only five minutes after the restart. A free-kick from the left caused problems for the Salisbury defence who failed to clear the danger, this presented Minhas with a golden chance, and he made no mistake, firing past Marcus Beauchamp.

This spurred the away side on, and they doubled their lead just after the hour. Some tidy build-up play set up Daniel Bradshaw to slot home via a deflection that left Beauchamp wrong-footed.

Salisbury brought on Devon Arnold, changing formation in the process to two up front with three at the back and the change saw the home side come into the game.

It was the substitute who gave the home supporters hope. He showed great determination closing down the Beaconsfield defence and forcing a mistake.

The ball broke free and as he drove into the box, he was fouled. He picked himself up and dispatched the spot-kick confidently beyond Ryan Hall.

Salisbury pressed for an equaliser, but the away side were able to see the game out and held on to a deserved victory.

Salisbury’s next game is away at Hendon on Saturday.
