SALISBURY'S strange season continued on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 win against long-standing rivals Truro City, writes Andy Munns.

The Whites' away form has been good this season, winning six of their 14 league fixtures away from the Ray Mac. And they added a seventh at Bolitho Park, the temporary Devon home of Truro.

It was Salisbury who started the stronger of the two sides and opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes. Abdulai Baggie was calm as he twisted and turned in the box before firing home past James Hamon to give the away side an early lead on seven minutes.

Salisbury then doubled their lead on 26 minutes when Josh Sommerton let fly from fully 25 yards. His strike arrowed past Hamon in the Truro goal, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Salisbury had been good value for their 2-0 lead at half-time, so much so Truro's manager made two changes at the break.

The changes seemed to work, and Truro were playing better football and felt they could have had one, maybe two penalties before getting a foothold back in the game.

Marcus Beauchamp’s poor goal kick was capitalised on by the home side when Andrew Neal picked up the ball and showed great composure to slot the ball home on 57 minutes.

This stirred Salisbury back into action and they began to create chances again, one effort forcing Hamon to tip the ball onto the bar and over.

Salisbury then re-established their two-goal advantage when the Truro keeper fouled in the box. Charlie Davis stepped up to take the spot-kick, hammering it home from 12 yards.

Salisbury continued to push to add a fourth but were unable to take any of their opportunities, winning the game comfortably in front of 71 hardy supporters.

Steve Claridge and his team will look to continue their good away form this Saturday as they travel to Surrey to face Walton Casuals.

The Whites sit 17th in the 22-team Southern Premier South.
