TEENAGER Kit Blomfield took five Sarisbury Athletic wickets for only four runs as South Wilts opened their pre-season warm-up programme with a 42-run win at Allotment Road.

Bowling off-spin, the 16-year-old ripped through Sarisbury’s lower-order as the hosts collapsed from 97 for five to 109 all out (Tom Mills 41) in response to South Wilts’ 151 all out.

Blomfield’s haul included the prize wicket of Josh Hill, while Matt Burton took three for 36 and Arthur Godsal two for 32.

Earlier, South Wilts lurched to 44 for five before a half-century by James Hayward (57) restored parity. Hayward was one of four SW wickets to fall to former team-mate Rob Franklin (4-28).

Another South Wilts teen, Matt Falconer (54), top scored in the second team’s five-wicket defeat by Calmore Sports at Bemerton.

With support from opener Ben Smith (36) and later Tom Bolam (31), South Wilts II posted 199 for seven, but Will Brewster (69) and Ben Johns (51) hit half-centuries in a key opening stand which set the platform for Calmore’s win.

South Wilts’ continue their pre-season preparations with a double header St Cross Symondians, with the first team playing at Bemerton and the seconds in Winchester.
