SALISBURY and District's branch of Parkinson's UK held an indoor curling event to celebrate the British success at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Eve Muirhead won gold for Team GB in China earlier this year.

And an afternoon of fun to commemorate the achievement took place in Coombe Bissett Village Hall.

Reeve the Baker in Wilton provided afternoon tea in a box.

Everyone took part in a mini tournament, playing in teams of four. Six ends were played by each team and there was a play-off for the chocolate silver and bronze medals.

By the end the scoring system had nearly been mastered by all.

The branch provides a wide range of activities and social events for people with Parkinson's and their family members.

They are eager to be put in touch with anyone affected by Parkinson's in the area, but in particular would like to welcome newly-diagnosed people and women.
