THE ABP Southampton races were run through urban areas, coastal roads and green parks on a windy but sunny day.

The runners enjoyed awesome cheering from local people and travelling supporters alike the whole way round.

To keep the runners cool, householders on the route were hosing them down as they ran past.

There were amazing scenes in the finishing stretch with crowds banging on the barriers as they sprinted for the line.

In the marathon event, CoSARC finishers were Jenny Hartley 3:20:27, Catherine Morgan-Smith 3:37:58 and Jason Bennett 3:44:08.

In the half marathon Jane Rebecca bagged herself a PB with a time of 2:02:30.

Kieran McCullam was not unnerved by the crowds and numbers of runners in his maiden 10K.

He was very pleased with his result, especially as he used this event to fundraise for Dementia UK.

James Mills ran his second marathon in three weeks at the Dorney Lakes Marathon in 2:55:55.

In the Regents Park 10K, Helen Carlton made a slow return from injury in a time of 53:19.

Three CoSARC juniors took part in the Youth Development League in Hillingdon.

In the under-20s 3,000m, Lizzie Norton pushed the pace and finished second.

Dominic Stapleton in the under-20s ran the ‘lactic double’ of 400m and 800m, performing very well against strong competition in the windy conditions.

Thomas Holme competed in the under-17 long jump, javelin and 1,500m steeplechase.
