BEMERTON Heath Harlequins were made to settle for a 1-1 draw against Baffins Milton Rovers – in a tale of two penalties at Moon Park.

Frontman Greg Peel’s spot-kick in the opening period looked to put the hosts on their way to victory, before the visitors levelled with a converted penalty of their own 10 minutes from time.

The result left Bemerton third in Wessex Premier, with 33 points from 14 games played.

Bemmy were boosted by the dual signings of Dan Neild and Josh Bertie from Winchester City and it was the latter who played a key role in the opener on 40 minutes.

After a slick passing move from the home side, Bertie was felled in the area, allowing Peel to step up and slot home from the spot.

Kane O’Keefe failed to keep down his header at goal as Bemerton went in search of a second.

O’Keefe was then penalised for bringing down his man in the box, leading to Jason Parish levelling for Baffins from 12 yards to make it 1-1.

The point left Bemerton two points adrift of second-placed Horndean in the league table.
