Since the pandemic, Salisbury Badminton Club says it has seen a "massive" increase in membership enjoying a purple patch in people participating in playing Badminton locally.

The playing standard at the club ranges from complete beginners to county standard and beyond.

Haydn Dibble, one of the coaches at the club is currently third in the England National masters rankings with Simon Woodhouse having played in the Senior All England Tournament and a long serving member of Wiltshire county first team.

Due to this recent membership swell and, to reduce subsequent waiting lists, the coaches have recently agreed to add another junior session on a Tuesday night between 6pm and 7pm.

The club is based at the five court Sports Centre at Sarum Academy on a Tuesday and Thursday night.

Children between the ages of four to 10 play from 6pm until 7pm, older children up to the age of 18 play from 7 until 8 o’clock with seniors playing between 8 and 10 o’clock, each group acts a feeder to the older and senior groups.

The club uses an App called ‘Spond’ for members to book onto a session which is based on a first-come first-served system with a waiting list to replace players that cancel their spot before the evening ensuring each session is maximised.

Membership costs £175 per year with no extra fees. There are also often social evenings including a quiz night the club currently has four teams in the senior Salisbury and District leagues with juniors getting regular matches against other Wiltshire districts.
