Salisbury Rugby Club U16 girls Spitfires secured their first win of the season in superb style on a rainy day in Frome against the Walcats, on Sunday, October 19.

Despite missing several regular players due to holidays and other commitments, the match provided a great opportunity for some of the newer team members to gain valuable game time, and they certainly rose to the occasion.

The game was barely a minute old when Mai Lee ran half the length of the pitch to score a stunning opening try.

Salisbury maintained the pressure throughout the first half, with Ceris-Lilly Fulton, Sophie Gout, Maisie Broyd, Anna Smart, and Immy Watson all adding cracking tries to the tally. Maisie Broyd showed great composure, successfully converting all of them.

The second half proved to be a much tighter contest, with the Walcats showing real determination and resilience.

Maisie Curtis, Ceris-Lilly Fulton, and Elenoa Lagilagi each added excellent tries for Salisbury, all well converted by Phoenix O'Neil. However, the Walcats finished strongly, responding with four impressive tries of their own.

It was a fantastic match played in great spirit by both sides. The Spitfires will now look to build on this confidence-boosting win as they prepare for their next league fixture at home on Sunday, November 9.

A huge congratulations to debutant Poppy MacKinnon-Pattison on a great first match, and also to Immy for scoring her first try for the club.
