WHITES boss Nick Holmes has declared himself highly satisfied with the display his side produced in their friendly win at a windswept Bishop's Cleeve last night.

Goals by Matt Tubbs, Tim Bond and Robbie Matthews earned a full strength City line-up a fairly comfortable 3-0 success against the Hellenic Premier Division side.

Holmes said: "It was a good performance. The weather was horrendous we had strong winds and driving rain most of the evening. But they did everything that was asked of them and it was another useful workout for us."

The Salisbury manager was full of praise for the hosts who finished as runners-up in their table last term.

"They're a decent, hard-working side. They had a lot of pace about them, though they didn't really trouble us.

"In the second half they had two or three half-chances, but I don't think our goalkeepers have had to make a save."

City's starting line-up was Ryan Clarke, Jonathan Bass, Tim Bond, Aaron Cook, Simon Browne, Scott Bartlett, Tommy Widdrington, Wayne Turk, Luke Prince, Paul Sales and Matt Tubbs.

Kevin Sawyer replaced new signing Ryan Clark in goal at the break with Simon Browne making way for Jon Beswetherick.

A triple substitution then saw strike partners Sales and Tubbs replaced by Robbie Matthews and new boy Declan McGregor who linked well to net the third goal, with triallist Gary Middleton taking Tim Bond's place at the back.

The trio of Matt Holmes, Chris Knowles and Charlie Knight later left the bench for Widdrington, Turk and Bartlett.

"We had 19 of the first team squad there," added Holmes. "Only Alex Haddow, who was away, was missing. But things are starting to take shape."

City's pre-season preparations continue tomorrow at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium with the visit of Wessex League Premier Division side AFC Totton (7.45pm).
