EVERGREEN Breamore cricket captain Shaun Marlow will be rewarded for his run-making prowess at the Hampshire Cricket League’s presentation awards evening in Southampton on Friday night.
Marlow, 52, topped the run scoring charts in the entire HL this summer, making 709 runs in Regional 1 West and effectively clinching his award with back-to-back centuries against Cadnam and New Milton in August.
Marlow has captained Breamore for a staggering 28 years – taking over from his father, who had skippered for the previous 20 seasons – and regularly opens the batting with his brother Steve, also has also been with the club for 40 years.
In fine family tradition, Shaun’s son, Tom, also plays and topped the Hampshire League bowling charts with 40 wickets in 2011.
Marlow reckons he scored over 13,000 runs in his Breamore career.
