REDLYNCH & Woodfalls FC are safely through to the quarter finals of the Wiltshire Junior Cup after beating Oaksey FC, from Cirencester, 2-1.

Redlynch were missing a handful of first team players through injuries and suspensions and it had a negative effect on the overall performance as they failed to get their normal free-flowing passing football together and, at times, looked disjointed.

Oaksey FC had an early penalty after a defensive mix up but keeper Lloyd Barr dived to his left to save. From then on, Redlynch dominated possession and attacks and went in front through young striker Harry Rogers, who fired into the bottom corner after a good run.

Redlynch were foiled time-and-time again by the Oaksey FC keeper who was outstanding, pulling off numerous saves.

Luke Charity had a 25-yard strike which cannoned off the post, Kit Jackson had a great looping header come back off the crossbar.

Oaksey FC received another fortuitous penalty on a rare counter attack to make it 1-1, Redlynch were rattled and were struggling to build any momentum until manager Paul Glover introduced new signing Adam Guyatt and he stroked home in the 85th minute.

Elsewhere, D.I United, Hilperton United and Stockton & Codford advanced to the last eight with cup victories on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Redlynch reserves lost 1-0 away to Burley FC.
