SOUTH Wilts are back on top of the ECB British Gas Southern Premier Division table with three matches to go.
Hampshire all-rounder Ian Holland produced the stand-out performance as they replaced Lymington at the top with an eight-wicket revenge win at Burridge.
The victory took South Wilts ten points clear at the top ahead of Saturday’s visit by New Milton.
“New Milton is a hugely important one for us to win. Then it’s Havant – and that could be important,” stressed skipper James Hibberd.
Holland, making only his fifth South Wilts appearance of the season, took 4-18 from a ten-over spell before hitting an unbeaten 32 to guide the Salisbury side home.
Reflecting on the game itself, Hibberd said: “It was a case of going there (Burridge) and getting the job done.
“I won an important toss and our seamers bowled well on what, after the heavy midweek rain, was a predictably damp surface.
“Ian, Ryan Murray and Steve Warner all bowled nicely to get them out for 107 – a total we knocked off fairly comfortably as the pitch dried out and the conditions eased.”
Joe Collings-Wells (39) top scored for Burridge, while an unbroken stand of 69 between Holland (32) and Jack Mynott (29) eased South Wilts home.
