LAVERSTOCK and Ford remain at the top of Sydenhams Division 1 following their victory on the road to Hythe and Dibden.

Lavvy started strong and instantly put the home side under enormous pressure.

Hythe rode the opening storm and seemed to be content to frustrate their visitors not allowing any clear cut chances.

That was until Rob Gallagher fooled everyone with a clever finish from 20 yards out, with the keeper anticipating a far post cross, Gallagher swept home the opener inside the near post on 29 minutes.

Laverstock welcomed back Tyler Brockway to the starting line-up after a three week injury absence started brightly and it was he who doubled the lead on 33 minutes.

Archie Lovegrove’s far post cross was laid back across and Brockway finished from close range.

Lewis Wykes had the ball in the next for a third time but a very late flag denied the returning hitman a goal.

With Lavvy in full control they went for the killer third goal, after a number of missed chances.

But on 65 minutes that man Gallagher fired in his second of the day.

However Hythe made things difficult moments later, catching Laverstock cold and grabbing what proved to be a consolation goal late on.

Co-managers Liam McConnell and Rob Lakeman spoke after the game and told JournalSport:

“Another away win, and the first time we have won here in three seasons, so that’s very pleasing.

“There were things we know we can do a lot better and certainly taking the chances we create for ourselves would make things easier.

“We’ve had a good response since exiting the Vase last week, winning on penalties in midweek and another three points is an ideal tonic, we’ve just got to keep it up.”
