GEORGE Plank scored a fantastic goal on his birthday as Bemerton Heath Harlequins won a Wessex League Premier Division thriller at Amesbury 4-3.

This was one of two goals he scored in the game, with Alfie Lightfoot and Rob Matthews getting the others for the winners.

In the first half Connor Millar scored twice for the home side and Jordan Matthews added a third five minutes from time.

Last Saturday, Bemerton's game was postponed and this weekend they are at home to Brockenhurst, who are four places below them in 18th.

Amesbury were in action last weekend and drew 2-2 at Horndean.

The home side took a two goal lead in the first half, via a brace from Miles Everett and looked in a commanding position to register their 15th win of the season.

However, Amesbury pulled one back, with winger Kieran Stephens finding the net 10 minutes before the half time break.

The start of the second half produced a few chances, with Amesbury then levelling the game with around a third of the half gone, with player/manager Gareth Horner poking in from three yards, following a glancing knock down from Jordan Matthews.

Both team had strong chances from there, however none were taken and the game finished 2-2.

The result lifted Amesbury one position to 20th and on Saturday they are at home to Baffins Milton Rovers.
