SALISBURY Tri Club athletes took Spain by storm, racing hard at Ironman Barcelona on Saturday, September 30.

Alongside nearly 3,000 other athletes, Dudley Kent, Alan Bayliss, Gavin Barrett and Jen Witt all took on the 3.8km sea swim, 112 mile bike and marathon run along the sea front of Calella.

Bayliss was out of the water in 1:03, and went hard against headwinds on the bike to complete the 112 miles in 5:06. He ran the marathon in 3:42, giving an amazing overall finish time of 10.02.

Alan was 16th in his age group. Dudley Kent was next over the line in 12:41, after completing the swim in 1:15, bike in 5:50 and run in 5:25. Gavin Barrett brought it home in 12:48 after a 1:27 swim, 5.59 bike and 5:11 marathon. Jen Witt crossed the line in 13:05 with a 1:19 swim, 6:24 bike and 5:13 run.

Closer to home, Giles Graves competed in the BustinSkin Osprey sprint triathlon in Portland. The pool based tri was 300m swim, 17km bike and 5k run. He came 41st overall, 11th in category, with a time of 1:13.
