SALISBURY Sparks Under 12s played their final four league matches of the season at the weekend.
After going down to Basingstoke in the opening game, the youngsters looked to bounce back against Yateley.
But despite some good play and encouraging support from head coach Lee Duckett, the Sparks came unstuck and lost for a second time.
The third game against Winchester Boys saw the Sparks put the first two games behind them and come out strong and determined. The Sparks played with confidence, having learnt much from the previous two games, winning their first of the day.
The last game of the day tested the strength and endurance of the youngsters. Despite some good play from the Sparks, the experience and organisation of Winchester Girls saw them take an early lead with the Sparks playing hard to catch up. The Sparks kept fighting to narrow the gap but they could not manage to take the lead and ended their last game with a close defeat.
They are back in action in June when they head for the hotly-anticipated play-offs.
