ARE any of our politicians capable of joined-up thinking?
As we are about to be hit with punitive green taxes to address global warming, we have a situation where government policies result in parents being unable to get their children into their local walking distance' school, so they have no choice but to travel, often several miles, by road; where public transport to faith schools has been withdrawn, leading inevitably to more cars being used to transport children; where local hospitals are being closed in favour of centres of excellence' often many miles away from the families of patients; where local post office shops providing vital goods and services are under threat, which will lead to more travel to city centre post offices and out-of-town superstores and where the privatisation of bus services has led, in many places, to multiple companies on profitable routes and the abandonment of less profitable rural services.
When is this madness going to end?
